Malibu Facelift
Looking for a great plastic surgeon offering facelift procedures in the Malibu area? Dr. John Anastasatos is a Top Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon that is known for his exceptional cosmetic outcomes and he is an excellent choice for your Facelift.
Considered the gold standard of anti-aging procedures, the facelift is one of the most effective ways to retain a more youthful face. As the skin and tissue in the lower face lose laxity with age, the jowls can become heavy, and the face loses its youthful shape and firmness. A facelift can remove excess skin and elevate the facial skin and tissue, erasing years of aging. Dr. John Anastasatos is a highly respected plastic surgeon and facelift specialist who offers transforming facelifts at his clinic in the Malibu area.
Dr. Anastasatos calls the facelift the “Rolls Royce” of plastic surgery, and it is one of the procedures he takes great pride in performing. His goal is to achieve a natural appearance for his patients while turning back the clock 10-15 years on their age appearance. In his experience, no one should be able to look at one of his facelift patients and guess they had “work done,” because the results look so natural.
Types of Facelift Procedures
There is not one facelift procedure that is right for everyone. Men and women age differently, so gender can change the type of facelift needed. Also, different ages of patients need different facelift procedures. The facelift completed on a woman in her 40-50’s will likely be different than a facelift performed on someone that is 60 years of age or older. Dr. Anastasatos offers a variety of facelifts for different patients at different phases, including:
- Liquid or non-surgical facelift – using injectables and cosmetic treatments
- MACS facelift – minimal access cranial suspension, for a midface lift
- SMAS facelift – Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System facelift, a lifting of the skin and tissue
- Facelift with fat transfer or stem cells
- Deep plane facelift – an elevation of the muscles, tissue and skin, the most complete facelift
- Mini facelift – for early stages of aging
- Revision facelift – revising a poorly performed facelift, or a secondary facelift years after a first facelift
- Thread facelift – a non-surgical lifting option using sutures
Deep plane facelifts, a facelift with fat transfers and stem cell facelifts are the top aging procedures that Dr. Anastasatos performs, but not everyone needs these levels of lifting. Many patients begin with a liquid facelift, then graduate to a mini facelift or MACS/SMAS facelift. Dr. Anastasatos takes the time to discuss all the options to determine when is the right time for each type of procedure.

Timing of a Facelift
Dr. Anastasatos recommends first facelifts at an early age when the first signs of drooping or loss of firmness in the lower face is noticeable. There are many advantages to starting young. For one, the skin has better elasticity and tightness, so the result is superior since the skin quality is better. Furthermore, by starting early, patients do not allow the aging changes to worsen over time, and the changes are not so drastic after their procedure.
Many men and women may have their first facelift in the forties, then have a secondary facelift 10-15 years later to maintain the results. It is important to realize that although a facelift can help the face look younger, it does not stop the aging process. To keep the face more youthful, subsequent procedures are needed to address aging as it occurs. Facelift Recovery
Facelift surgery has a virtually painless recovery. The recovery from the facelift has to do with how fast the swelling and bruising will dissipate. Most of the swelling on average will go away in the first 2-3 weeks. It does take about six months from the time of surgery for the face to become totally normal, and there is an individual variation with every patient.
