Ever since young age, I always had interest for art, science, and medicine. The turning point for my decision to pursue profession in the medical field came when I got invited to attend the national youth leadership forum on medicine in Washington. During this 10-day forum, I learned what it really means to be a physician, medical issues they may come across, and ethics in medicine.
The first job I got was a Mathematics instructor assistant and private math and science tutor. I enjoyed working with people from different backgrounds. I learned to carefully listen to student’s needs and develop learning strategies that would benefit them. My favorite was geometry, because it is where proportions and symmetry came together to form beautiful art, just like in plastic surgery.
After graduating high school with highest honors and winning a science scholarship, I went on to pursue my undergraduate education at UC Berkeley. I grew up in Los Angeles, and I was very excited to move to Bay area to attend college. At UC Berkeley, I decided to combine my love for art and medicine. I received a Bachelor’s degree in Integrative Biology, and minored in art history. One of my favorite leisure activities is to explore art museums and galleries, and getting lost in studying beautiful art pieces, whether it is traditional or contemporary art.
After I graduated college, I moved back to Los Angeles. I volunteered at Keck Hospital of USC, and at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. My favorite part about volunteering was working alongside with nurses and physicians, and observing surgeries. Plastic surgery has always been my favorite field in medicine, because it is also art.
I am a firm believer in always learning, and decided to attend graduate school. I graduated with a Master of Science in Global Medicine degree from Keck School of Medicine of USC.
Shortly after receiving my Master’s degree, I received an opportunity to join plastic surgery practice of Dr. John Anastasatos as an Office Manager and Patient Advocate. The best part of my job is guiding and assisting patients on their plastic surgery journey, and forming long-lasting relationships with them.
