Rhinoplasty and Nose Reshaping

This beautiful young lady patient was interested in achieving a subtle yet distinctive change in her nose for both the front and side views. She wanted a nose that did not look “operated on” or “overdone”. Her main goals were to finesse the nose by making it smaller, shorter and more delicate looking. She wanted to have a straight dorsum and not a curvy look. Tip refinement by reducing her bulbous tip was also a main goal.

The technique employed was open rhinoplasty.

The procedures performed were:

Cephalic resection of the lower lateral cartilages of the nasal tip in order to reduce the pre-existing bulbous tip and create a finer nasal tip.

Resection of the bony and cartilaginous dorsum in order to bring the nasal hump down and also offer a straight configuration per the patient’s request.

Minimal resection of the upper lateral cartilages in order to reduce the width of the nose.

Correction of the deviated septum.

Caudal septum resection in order to create cephalic (upward) rotation of the nasal tip.

Placement of spreader grafts in order to improve support of the septum and also enlarge the internal nasal valves which in turn improves breathing.

The patient is happy because we delivered exactly what she requested. As seen, precise techniques in rhinoplasty and septoplasty not only can finesse and refine the nose but also beautify the whole face. The results shown are about a year after the surgery.

This beautiful young lady patient felt that she had a beautiful face but her nose was too long and too big for her face. Her nose was out of proportion to her face.

The closed rhinoplasty techniques performed have considerably beautified the nose and also the face.

The results shown are only after 6 weeks from the date of her surgery.

Results shown 3 months post operatively. It is normal for the swelling to persist for a year after surgery, sometimes longer. Typically most of the swelling is at the tip of the nose. Notice how even with the swelling, this surgery changes the whole face, and softens entire facial features.

The patient had closed rhinoplasty. She also had correction of nasolabial folds (aka laugh lines), and lip augmentation. Before and after results are approximately a year post surgery.

The patient had a crooked septum, and making the nose also appear crooked. She had a reconstructive septoplasty to correct the septum, and cosmetic rhinoplasty.
The septum represents the central pillar of support for the nose. Therefore, getting the septum to be straightened is important for a beautiful straight-looking nose.
In this patient you can see the light reflection on the top of the nose being a straight line, which is indicative of a straight septum and nose.
The front and side views are of the same patient and results speak for themselves. A nicely balanced and symmetric nose beautifies the face, and makes all facial proportions more attractive.

The patient had a deviated septum that was making the nose appear crooked. She also had a prominent nasal hump. She underwent correction of septal deviation, and corrective and aesthetic rhinoplasty. She also had a small lip mass that was removed, which required precise approximation of the red/white lip margin that is also called vermilion border. It is important to have a straight septum in order to achieve a beautiful symmetric and straight-looking nose. Before and after results are approximately a year post surgery.

This patient shows her rhinoplasty results 3 weeks after her surgery. Before she came to me, she had 2 failed rhinoplasty surgeries by other plastic surgeons. She wanted a smaller natural nose and elevation of her droopy tip. Revision surgeries are more difficult, challenging, and demanding. This male model asked rhinoplasty and me to perform on him to accentuate his masculinity and refine his nose. A beautiful rhinoplasty not only improves the look of the nose but also the whole face. This was primarily a tip rhinoplasty.

This lady had a rhinoplasty (nose job) and a septoplasty. She also had liposuction and fat transfer to her face, chin, jawline and lips. Fat transfer to the face is a most natural and effective to restore and create volume and attractive shape.

Purpose: To correct crooked nose and caved-in depressions left from previous surgeries.

I did this nose operation or rhinoplasty surgery 10 years ago. This lady had many nose problems to correct. Her septum was crooked. When the septum of the nose is crooked or uneven then the nose is also cooked and uneven. The septum is the backbone of the nose. So to have a nice straight nose one needs to have a nice straight septum.

So in this patient I did the septoplasty surgery first and corrected the septum. After I did the septoplasty surgery then I brought my attention to the rhinoplasty surgery. It is prudent to do the septoplasty first and then the nose re-shaping.

As far as her nose reshaping I made the nose straighter and shorter. She wanted a shorter nose. She also wanted the reduce the height of her nose and the height and width of her nostrils.

When it comes to rhinoplasty surgery and in general cosmetic surgery of the face I am an advocate of natural results. I apply this principle to nose reshaping. I don’t like fake looking noses or noses that look operated upon.

Look at this nose. You can see in the before and after pictures that I did major work on her. She had a lot of work. Yet her nose looks natural after the rhinoplasty.

When someone does a rhinoplasty and they overdo it then it is hard to fix afterwards.

A natural rhinoplasty is a good rhinoplasty.
