Short Scar Facelift
The facelift is a highly intricate procedure that can have incredible results when performed by a skilled plastic surgeon. Dr. John Anastasatos at Los Angeles Plastic Surgery is a highly respected, board certified plastic surgeon with an excellent reputation for performing natural-appearing facelifts that last. Among the many types of facelifts offered at Los Angeles Plastic Surgery is the short scar facelift, which can be the right option for many of our clients.
What is a Short Scar Facelift?
The incision used for a facelift surgery allows access to the skin, tissue and muscle that can sag from aging. In a traditional facelift, a larger incision is needed to reach the facial tissue in the lower face and elevate it to tighten heavy jowls or a sagging jawline. With a short scar facelift, a much smaller incision is made, usually beginning at the sideburn and in front of the ear, but not curving behind it. The lower face can still be rejuvenated with a short scar facelift, but not to the same extent.
Short Scar vs. Traditional Facelifts
A short scar facelift can accomplish many of the same benefits of a traditional or SMAS facelift, but with a smaller scar and shorter surgery time. The short scar technique is suited for patients in their late forties or early fifties who are experiencing some sagging in the lower face and jowls, without excessive amounts of skin or tissue. The midface can be repositioned to achieve a more youthful cheek contour with diminished smile lines. The jawline and upper neck contours can also be improved.
